Discretionary Award Winner, 2015 & 2016 Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition
Baron Cao, from State College, PA began his piano study at age 7, and has has won multiple international and national competitions across the country. Most recently, he claimed Third Prize at the 2018 New York Piano Competition and Festival and has been nationally recognized twice as an award winner of the National YoungArts Foundation (2017, 2019). In addition, he was featured on NPR’s “From the Top” radio show, and won Third Prize at the 2017 National MTNA Finals for senior piano. He has also been awarded First Prizes at the Eastern Division MTNA Finals, the Pennsylvania State MTNA Finals, Kefferstan National Piano Competition, West Chester University Piano Competition, Marian Garcia Piano Competition, Williamsport Symphony Concerto Competition, American Fine Arts Festival, and various other local piano competitions. Baron was a two-time prize laureate at the Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition, and has also claimed the third prize at the International Youth Chopin Piano Competition in Connecticut. He is also an alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival, Southeastern Piano Festival, and the Tanglewood Institute.
